. the showers are coming in toward northern virginia, really coming through cumberland now but they're headed toward 522. we've seen them north of cross junction here coming toward 81 in a little while. winchester, south and west a couple of heavier showers there. temperatures very warm this morning. still 80 degrees in annapolis. many areas mid- to upper 70s. 6:00 a.m., here comes monika. she has timesaver traffic. >> there's an accident on the southbound side of gallows road at the beltway blocking the left lane. that's it for any accidents that i have this morning coming in from the north side of town. no problems out of baltimore on 95, columbia, route 32 and 29 and the bw parkway looks great as well as you leave fort meade and heading for greenbelt and cheverly inside the beltway. we'll take a live look outside and show what you it looks like first on 270. southbound side, yup, this is definitely beginning to slow down. it's going to be off and on from frederick to 109 and then solid now all the way down to 121 before that pace improves. it looks good down at the point where the lanes di

% and a strong, healthy barometer 30.25. high pressure over west virginia this morning. the southerly winds on the back side of the high are going to shoot temps to the mid-9 otion in minneapolis. -- mid-90s in minneapolis. we're on the cool side of the high. we'll have to watch the high as it gives us this great weather. a couple of showers on the back side of the high. this is what we may be seeing as we head toward saturday night, sunday. but until then, it's just going to warm up a little bit here for the second half of the week. a beautiful day ahead, 78. tonight we're back down to near 50 in the suburbs. closer to 60 in town. 83 tomorrow, still great. thursday looking really nice, too, at 84. in fact friday will be a repeat of thursday with lows in the 60s, highs in the low to mid- 80s. saturday 83. i think saturday night into sunday that's when we introduce the chance for showers. 6:17. here comes monika samtani. timesaver traffic. the 6:00 hour normally that means we're talking about a few incidents. >>> yes, we are. we've been talking about one for a while now. since early this mor

to be one long slow lineup. now over to virginia on the northbound side of 95. this is incident free close into springfield. delays forming leaving route 644. i'll be back with more traffic at 6:12. >>> at the top of the hour, we're following breaking news out of the middle east. protests at a third u.s. embassy this morning. >> people in the capital of yemen stormed the american embassy there this morning. this follows protests yesterday in libya and in egypt. kristin fisher is live in our satellite center with more on some deadly violence. kristin? >> reporter: right now a mass protest under way right outside the u.s. embassy in yemen's capital. so far it has not turned violent. no reports of any injuries but we've all seen how quickly that can change after what happened outside the u.s. consulate in libya just two days ago. i want you to take a look at this video. it's just come in within the last hour. protesters are on the embassy grounds. you can see that. they're trying to jump over the fence but so far they have not been able to actually enter the building that houses the diplomati

, the worst of it was in northern virginia, like this mess on south shore lane in reston. the line of storms brought down trees on to homes and cars, fortunately, there are no reports of anyone being seriously hurt. >>> the intercounty connector hasn't even been open a year yet and there are problems with proof the bridges. the bridges have hairline cracks this them. one carries the ic cover route 29 and the state blames a miscalculation by the contractors. the cracks will be repaired, the hairline cracks were found in three other bridges earlier this year. >>> jessica doyle is back with another your money report. >> the so-called fiscal cliff we are heading toward and is congress going to do anything about it? >> they are just getting back from a five week vacation. that must be knight nice right? and they are going to get to work for a short pre election session. they are facing down a slew of deadlines in the prospect of the debilitating fiscal cliff in january. but lawmakers are expected to take a path on the big issues of taxes and spending cuts. instead they are likely to focus on doin
